BETWEEN THE LINES
Make your plans: March on Washington July 4!

to stage massive protest in 'Obama's playground'

I'm not an organizer.
I'm not big on protest rallies.
I'm not even persuaded that real, meaningful, long-lasting national policy
change can come from influencing our elected leaders in Washington.
However, I think it's time for a march on Washington to galvanize forces who
don't want to see America destroyed by socialism.
That time is July 4, 2009.
Judging from the anger and frustration I am sensing in this country right now, I
have no doubts such a march could bring 1 million people to the nation's
capital.
People are mad. They are fuming. There is widespread righteous indignation
across this country, and someone or something needs to channel it constructively
and positively in a major show of force.
The tea parties are spreading from coast to coast. That's encouraging. But most
of them are getting little or no media attention. Most Americans are not even
aware of them – before or after they take place.
They should continue and build.
But it's time to make some real noise. It's time for some major fireworks. And
what better venue than Barack Obama's playground?
Too many courageous Americans have given their all – their lives, their fortunes
and their sacred honor – to bestow upon this nation a heritage of liberty
unknown anywhere else in the world.
Are we really ready to see it be taken from us – and from our children and
grandchildren?
Are we willing to stand by while the biggest power grab in the history of the
world takes place before our very eyes?
Are we all just too busy to make the smallest sacrifice of our time and energy
and passion for that which God blessed has blessed this nation?
I don't think so.
I think the American people are ready to stand up and be counted.
The time has never been more right.
It's time to take America back.
It's time for a show of force.
It's time for Washington to understand we're not going to take it any more – not
lying down anyway.
Is there not some organization or group willing to take the lead?
Is there any doubt that all the freedom-loving talk-show hosts in America will
get behind such a call to action?
Will we be defeated without even putting up a fight or a visible protest?
Is that a legacy with which you are willing to live the rest of your life?
Or will you join me in getting up off our rear ends and filling the streets of
Washington July 4?
Our forefathers fought for independence. That is the gift we supposedly
celebrate and commemorate every July 4. It's time for a new declaration of
independence. We don't need a new document. The old one is just fine. But we
need to raise our voices and demonstrate that some of us – many of us – still
support self-government, our founding documents and want no part of
command-and-control, top-down tyranny.
We don't want it from foreign shores – and we sure don't want it from
Washington.
I can't do it alone.
But if you support this idea, start spreading the word.
See how your friends react. Network with organizations to which you belong or
support with your membership fees. Let's start building a coalition of groups
and individuals who have something to lose if we don't stop the theft, the
handouts, the giveaways and, most of all, the take-aways that always come with
government power grabs.
Think about this.
Pray about this.
See if this call to action agrees with your spirit.
I think it's right. But I don't know if the rightness of our cause will be
strong enough if we don't act soon. I think it's time. And I don't think we have
much more time to lose.
I look forward to your thoughts.
