Exclusive: ‘..for no Earthly King’
John Sweat
At the 1908 Olympics, the American flag-bearer refused to dip the flag to the
British royals during the “Parade of Flags.” The British were suitably outraged
and an American tradition was born, codified as part of the U.S. Flag Code as
the “no-dip rule.”
When asked to explain his actions to an approving public in the U.S., the story
claims that Ralph Rose said “This flag dips for no earthly king.”
The symbols of a nation united not on race, religion or gender, not on shared
virtues and ideas. The flag is one, the president is another: a belief he
apparently embraces. Speaking to a closed door session of House Democrats back
on July 30th, then-presidential hopeful Barack Obama supposedly told an
attentive audience that he had “become even then a symbol of the possibility of
America returning to our best traditions.”
How then does he explain his abuse of himself as a symbol of America’s noblest
traditions here?
The implications are staggering. The elected leader of a free nation
deliberately abased himself to a Middle Eastern despot of the worst sort – a man
who rules by “divine right” and whose family name adorns the Arabian Peninsula
as proof of ownership. The leader of a police state that continues the practice
of slavery and subjugates women as less than human.
Even more amazing is the pass he continues to get in American media. While
British media criticized their own prime minister for seeming to grovel at
Obama’s feet during the G20 (and before that blasted Tony Blair when they felt
he was behaving as George w. Bush’s lapdog), Obama’s deep bow to King Abdullah
received less attention than the fact that First Lady Michelle Obama dared to
touch Queen Elizabeth II – although Mrs. Obama was breathlessly “absolved” of
any gaffe by protocol “experts” because the Queen touched her first.
Please do remember this is the same press that made much of George W. Bush’s
handholding with King Abudullah and doing sword dances with Wahabbists. That was
bad enough. But what’s worse – holding the hand of a Middle Eastern despot or
bowing to him?
The great tragedy for American citizens is watching Barack Obama grovel. A man
who stands on the shoulders of giants such as Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther
King. A man who has reaped the rewards of the Civil War and the Civil Rights
Movement.
Watch Obama lead us openly into “submission.”
