Okay, when I was in high school, late 50s - early 60s, the term "rocket scientist" was used with awe to describe uber-nerds with pocket protectors and slide rules who would use their awesome brains and 60s technology to put men on the moon.

Marc Morano of Climate Depot has found an article written by James Delingpole of the UK Telegraph in which NASA scientist James Hansen endorses a book which calls for 'ridding the world of Industrial Civilization'. Hansen is in charge of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), which presumably gives him verifiable "rocket scientist" credentials. Thus, another of my childhood illusions is irreparably shattered.

The book that Hansen endorses is called Time’s Up by Keith Farnish. The author claims that the only way to prevent global ecological collapse and thus ensure the survival of humanity is to rid the world of Industrial Civilization. – Hansen declares author 'has it right...the system is the problem'

You can read the Telegraph article here.

In case you missed it in the article, there's a free online version of the book, titled A Matter Of Scale here.

Now I'll be going down to Kroger's to buy a case of root beer to drown my sorrows.
I can't believe a rocket scientist could be that stupid.

Next they're going to tell me the guy with the white hat isn't the good guy
and the president of the United States is an asshole.
