At Pajamas Media and WLS Chicago and Big Government

A Gun Is Just A Tool

A gun is just an inanimate tool. It's the person who holds it who is good or evil.

Howard Nemerov has an excellent article at Pajamas Media which cites FBI and BATF data to illustrate the negative correlation between the number of privately owned guns and the number of violent crimes. That's right, - the more guns in the hands of honest people, the less the criminals prey on them. What a concept!!!

Meanwhile this past Memorial Day weekend in Chicago, a city which BANS the private possession of firearms, was bloody. Anti-gun POS obama was in Chicago for the weekend but he was well-guarded by dozens of heavily armed Secret Service agents. I just cannot understand how so many people could be shot if guns are illegal in Chicago.

May 30, 2010 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- It has been a violent weekend in Chicago: in a 30 hour period, 25 people were shot, and one man died from his injuries. (This was 25 separate shooting incidents.)

The fatal shooting happened early Sunday in the 5100-block of S. Laflin.

Darius Murphy, 19, died after he was shot in the head.

Chicago Police Superintendent Jody Weis said nearly half of the shootings appear to be gang-related.

He said there are no suspects in any of the cases.

Finally, over at Big Government, John Lott has an article titled "The UN and Obama Versus Gun Owners". He deftly explains gun owner's concerns that the obama administration is supporting a misguided UN Small Arms Treaty to give them a "backdoor" to introduce gun control to the U.S.

This treaty poses real risks for freedom and safety in the United States as well as the rest of the world, leaving honest citizens at the mercy of criminals and tyrannical governments.
