Republicans Blast ‘Livable Communities’ Bill As

Washington-Based Central Planning for Cities and Towns

By Matt Cover, Staff Writer

(CNSNews.com) – The Senate Banking Committee passed the Livable Communities Act on Tuesday, moving the bill one step closer to final passage. The bill creates $4 billion in neighborhood planning grants for “sustainable” living projects and a new federal office to oversee them.

Similar legislation in the House has been criticized by Republicans on the House Budget Committee, who charge that “the program’s aim is to impose a Washington-based, central planning model on localities across the country.”

In the Senate version, written by outgoing Chairman Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn.), the Livable Communities Act would designate $4 billion to aid local governments in planning high-density, walkable neighborhoods.

The article goes on with further details, you really should read it to see what the powerful D.C. politicians have in mind for your future housing accomodations.

* * * * *

I believe in the old adage that "one picture is worth one thousand words", so here's several thousand word's worth of government controlled, centrally planned, sustainable living projects:

First up: two shots of Cabrini-Green in "The Won's" home town, Chicago. The city thinks it owns it, but it's actually ruled by "mongrel" gangs. Mayor Daley says guns are illegal in the city, but this project is better armed (in quality and quantity) than the Chicago Police Department, and they practice shooting more too.

Next we have New York City. Mayor Bloomberg is the leader of a bunch of wackos called "Mayors Against Guns" or something like that. It's purely coincidental that Chicago and New York with laws against citizen's owning guns, have such high gun homicide rates. Statistical fluke.

These high-density living arrangements are very beneficial to the substance-dependent mongrels, since they are within easy walking distance of cash or merchandise which can be converted into their substance of choice. The government is so good to us.

Here we have a photo of high-density planned living for mongrels in Dallas. This delightful pied-a-terre is located close to the light-rail line so that substance-users can hop a fare-free ride to the wealthy suburbs for that necessary break-in or mugging to acquire some substance. Unfortunately, Texas is a "Shall-Issue" state, where any cracker with a clean background and enough brains to take a course and some exams can carry heat. Even worse, the state has a "Castle Doctrine" law, which means if a cracker catches you inside his house, he can blow your stuff away. They say "Texas" comes from an Indian word meaning "friendly". Bool-sheet!

Last, from the people who gave the centrally planned economy one hell of a try and discovered that it just doesn't work, your friends and mine, the Russkies. Here are a couple of samples of urban dense-living in the land of the big red star (not Texaco). Both examples are in Moscow and probably house mid-level government bureaucrats, so they look fairly well kept. The apartment interiors will be small, efficiencies or one bedroom maximum, with small rooms. They probably have private bathrooms and kitchens. The apartments in the first photo were built in the 1980s, the lower photo shows a newer apartment building.

You would recognize older apartment blocks instantly if you saw them. The outside would be raw cement with a lot of cracks due to shoddy engineering and construction, and they would be further from the city center, meant for the lower paid workers. They are overwhelming to look at, vast, long, high rabbit warrens for warehousing people.
