Obama, the one-term president
| By ROGER SIMON Q: Will Barack Obama be a one-term
president? Honest to goodness, the man just does not get it
* * * * * Mr. Simon is an excellent writer and this article is another good one, but the words above are all I wanted to steal today |
![]() I suspect that a lot of us share in the belief and the hope that mr. obuma will have one (or less) term in office. There is a presidential precedent for being hounded out of office to avoid criminal charges. It would be a memorable day in American history as Marine One took him to Dulles Airport for his flight to Fort Leavenworth or to exile in Kenya, depending on how much plea-dealing he did. The streets around the Capitol and the executive office buildings would be crowded with prison buses as his co-defendants were boarded for their trips to "the big house". Vacancies would open at the top of many federal agencies, and maybe they would be filled by dedicated career professional members of the organization rather than by political hacks who were owed a favor.
An alternate exit for "The Won" would be a State Funeral. All the stress and hard work of being president can take a terrible toll on a man's health. Being the Leader of the Free World, the Chief of the most exceptional nation the world has ever known, is an awesome responsibility. He must maintain the trust of our allies and inspire fear in the hearts of our enemies. The job saps the strength of a mortal man. If Mr. obuma were to die in office, I don't believe he would qualify to be covered by a U.S. Flag. The State Department Vexillologist (flag expert) would have to find a Kenyan flag somewhere. Likewise the U.S. Military Escort, - not entitled, plus you probably couldn't find a dozen GIs willing to honor him. Then what? After the funeral, - what do muslims do with the carcass? Burn it? Leave it for the vultures and hyenas? Bury it? No, surely they wouldn't bury him in Arlington National Cemetery with all the military heroes he despises. If they have to put him there, at least put him next to Teddy Kennedy, that soil is already defiled.
