exit plan for Afghan war
How do you screw up a war between a super-power and a 3rd world dungheap?
| LBJ knew how to do it. Seems like he passed along the secret
recipe to obuma. I was a participant in Vietnam, my Father-in-Law
flew in both Korea and Vietnam. He says the last war we ever won
was World War II. But there are so-called Americans who will argue
that we cheated on that one by ending it with nuclear weapons; even
though that act saved thousands of GI lives and millions of Japanese
fight-to-the-death lives. Okay, so maybe the last really good war was World War I, when Europe lost a generation of young men in muddy trenches to machine gun fire and clouds of toxic gas that destroyed their lungs. That war killed millions of young men, destroyed several stable empires, ushered communism into Russia and set the stage for Hitler in Germany. The destruction of the Turkish Ottoman empire and the carving up of the Middle East into arbitrary "countries" by Britain and France without regard to the natural boundaries of peoples and tribes has given us the freaking mess we've had there for the last 90 years. Anyway, Bob Woodward has a new book out about "The Won" and all the political and military fools surrounding him who disagree with his sage expertise on how the Afghanistan war should be handled by a community organizer. I don't particularly like Bob Woodward or anyone else at the moment, but if he implies that obuma is an asshole, maybe he's not all bad.
A few minutes ago I had to chase a pair of young women away from my front door. They were apparently about to attempt to save my soul by converting me to their religion whatever it was. I asked if they had seen my "No Soliciting" sign? They said "Oh, we're not soliciting." I said "you're soliciting." and firmly closed the door. Maybe I need to post the sign that my wife didn't like:
