Scientists Find 'Liberal Gene'
Liberalism is a birth defect --
incurable?
| By ERIC S. PAGE Researchers have determined that
genetics could matter when it comes to some adults' political
leanings. "It is the crucial interaction of two factors -- the genetic predisposition and the environmental condition of having many friends in adolescence -- that is associated with being more liberal,” according to the study. "These findings suggest that political affiliation is not based
solely on the kind of social environment people experience,” said
Fowler, who is a professor of political science and medical
genetics.
The researchers are now hard at work on the next phase of the project: to find the cause of the genetic damage that results in liberal children in perfectly normal families. "We hope to someday offer a way to prevent this shameful blight on the human race." The Chief Researcher said. "Our driving goal is that no family should ever have to endure the heartbreak of raising a child who lacks logic and common sense." |
