My wife is going to upstate New York on business this week, and has a limo service scheduled to pick her up Tuesday morning at 0300 to go to the airport. So we weren't completely shocked to hear a tapping sound downstairs at 0300 this morning. I was pleasantly surprised to be awakened by it, as a child I slept through all the noise and commotion of a fire in the house next door, and in Vietnam I allegedly slept through a couple of mortar attacks on our base.

This morning, I pulled on a pair of walking shorts, placed my 24 hour companion in a pocket, turned off the alarm and went down to see what was up.

I peeked through my peeking window and saw a town car idling at the curb and a well dressed man at the door, so I opened the door and stepped out to ask if he was there to pick up my wife. English was not his native language, but we established that yes, indeed, he was from the limo service. I told him he was a little early (24 hours) and should contact his office. He apologized, we bid each other good night, and that was that.

My wife is going to call the limo service to verify that someone will show up tomorrow morning at 0300 as originally scheduled.
