Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Sunday that the thwarting of the attempt to blow up an Amsterdam-Detroit airline flight Christmas Day demonstrated that “the system worked.” (Our secret contingency plans included an incompetent bomber who would not properly mix the liquid and powder components of the explosive, and an alert, heroic Dutch passenger who leaped over 4 passive passengers to extinguish the flames and capture the bomber. It all went like clockwork.)
