Cranston finds R.I. DOT installed
some unapproved stop signs
| CRANSTON — A preliminary investigation into how nearly 700 stop
signs not approved by the city were installed has found that all the
stop signs on city roads intersecting state roads were placed by the
state Department of Transportation, Mayor Allan W. Fung said Monday. Read on... read the comments too.
Now, in Texas, traffic on state highways is proceeding along at a pretty rapid pace, and they are not expecting some yahoo to pull out of a side road into their path. So, if you're on the side road intersecting with a state road, you come to a dead stop and look both ways carefully. Doesn't matter if there's a stop sign, a traffic light or a brass band playing "Step Right In". Nobody asked for my opinion, but you know by now that you're going to get it anyway. Those folks up in Rhode Island have a God-given Right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. You can interpolate that to mean that they have the right to commit vehicular suicide if they so choose. That would fit the national goals, one more body out of obamacare, social security, etc; one more carbon monoxide producing, fuel eating piece of junk off the roads. But, they do not have any right to commit vehicular homicide. If they do not execute a proper stop and ensure that they have a safe opening to cross or enter the state road without causing a collision with another vehicle and killing its occupants, they are murderers and should be executed or spend life in prison, following which they should spend eternity in hell. The opinion expressed here is that of the author. If you disagree with it, you have the right to go piss up a rope.
